music = happy-making

Holy moley, Smallville is bad. Or at least the couple of scenes of it that I saw last night were bad enough that I'm happy to have never watched any before and secure in my decision to not watch any more, ever.

This summary judgment brought to you by an attempt at distraction. (I was flipping channels. I saw Jensen Ackles. I stopped, because. I boggled a little [good for him for sure as hell not being Dean, which I knew he could do, because, well, I may have gotten a hold of S2 of Dark Angel and spent the next week being disturbed to realize that I must have watched more of it when it first aired than I remember, but oh yeah, Alec], and then I said, "Sorry, honey, not even for you," and kept on flipping.)

ANYway. voleuse put together this Frankenstein Mix challenge/meme, and I figured, why not? I kept getting interrupted, though, and the master list has grown since I started, so hopefully I'm still not duplicating anyone.

Right-click save, pretty please with cupcakes. I'll most likely be taking them down in a week. [edit] They're down now, but if you spot one you reeeeeeally want, drop me a comment. [/edit]

1. A song that wakes you up in the morning.

3 Small Words - Josie and the Pussycats, a.k.a., Kay Hanley
(wakes me up any time, really)

2. A song you loved in high school.

Friday I'm In Love - The Cure
(...at least I think it was high school)

3. A song that mentions a dead celebrity.

American Pie - Don McLean
(had to be done)

4. A song you'd be embarrassed to listen to with your grandmother.

H.W.C. - Liz Phair
(trust me on this)

5. A song that MTV will never play in a million, billion years.

In These Shoes - Kirsty MacColl
('tis a pity, but I don't see them going here)

6. A song with a title that ends in y.

Coin-Operated Boy - Dresden Dolls
(randomness, yay)

7. A song that makes you crave something.

Just Like Heaven - Charlotte Martin
(this is irrevocably linked with hot chocolate in my mind. don't ask)

8. A cover song that you think is better than the original.
9. The original of #8.

The Reaper - Alana Davis
The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
(a bit of a "by default." I do like the cover better, but this is also the only one that I could find the original for on my computer)

10. A song that reminds you of a fandom OTP.

St. James - Amelia
(I don't mean OTP in that way, but Dean and Sam are a pair, so I guess they fit)

11. You have been caught mouthing the lyrics to this song.

We Belong - Pat Benetar
(mouthing, hell. full-out singing is more like it)

12. A song that will always make you think of a movie.

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
(call me a product of my age, but, dude, Wayne's World)

13. A song that should totally have fic written about it.

Gotta Knock A Little Harder - Cowboy Bebop OST
(since fic and music don't connect in my mind AT ALL, this is me, winging it)

14. A song you wish they'd play in elevators.

Lust For Life - Iggy Pop
(because why the fuck not)

15. You'll stop listening to this song when they pry your MP3 player out of your cold, dead hands.

Dropkick Murphys - Tessie
(2004 sucked, but I DON'T CARE)

ETA: Oh! Totally forgot, Project Runway result: Yay!

mememes, tv watchin', sing out loud
