sorry, need to whine

Why do products that work on my hair keep getting discontinued? I couldn't find my usual in the store this weekend, and subsequently discovered that it's now only available for three times the usual price through an Amazon seller. Whyyyyy ( Read more... )

Allure was raving over Living proof curl defining styling cream. I'm planning on asking for a sample the next time I'm in Sephora. Was it one of your already tried options?

This always happens to me too. My favorite hair styling products never stay on the market. Woe.

Hm, haven't tried that. Kind of gave up on non-drugstore after Aveda (my first love) let me down. Maybe I will run across to Sephora and check that out...

I blame the patriarchy. (Might as well, right?)

Been there, done that, repeatedly. Same type of hair too. If you don't mind and you find something that works, please do post about it so I can give it a try.

The one that worked but was the wrong kind of scent for me was a Not Your Mother's product, which, I should have known better, since I not remember that I tried another from them and it was also bad stinky. But it might be okay for you... http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CHTK7P0/

I will report back on my search!

Was a DevaCurl product the second one? It has a strong scent (that I like) but it's worked on my fine curly hair for 7-8 years now.

No, see above. I have tried DevaCurl in the past, and yeah, really wanted to love it, but couldn't live with it... Sigh.

I really like the Andalou Naturals cream, but it tends to weigh my hair down by the end of the day. I keep meaning to try their gell, but every time I think of it, I can't find it.

Although I definitely don't have fine hair, I quite like the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus line. It has three different styling products: milk, "smoothie" and "gel soufflé." I use a combination of the latter two to tame my hair, but as I found that the milk was not quite strong enough, maybe it would work on your finer hair?

I like this stuff because it's available at Target for a reasonable price, and is pretty much all-natural ingredients. Also your hair smells like a piña colada.

Heh, I sniffed that at Target the other week, and couldn't decide whether I would be able to live with the smell. I wish they had the styling stuff in the travel size to try, not just the shampoo and conditioner. Maybe I'll give it a shot, though.

I might have some of the styling milk laying around from a sample pack I got at one point. If so, do you want it? My experience is that the scent is not at all obtrusive. I think it's more noticeable to other people than to me.

Just checked and I do have some of that styling milk left. It's yours if you want it! Just email me your address: shayelea @ gmail.
