So, before the episode aired, my thoughts were pretty much the same as promethia_tenk’s, in doctoreleven’s Official Squee Reaction Post ( Read more... )

That was pretty much my initial response too, and it took me a few days to get beyond that and actually *write* something. (Which then again descended into flail and love... *g*)

Oh I LOVE that .gif! Here, have one back! :)

I've been meaning to watch it again since the first time, but now I am definitely doing it tonight. Because this post just reminded me how much I love it.

Immediately after I watched I was kind of...stunned, and I wandered into a reaction post on one of my friends' journals, and I said, "Is it just me, or was that episode really, really good?" Because I thought it wasn't quite possible that it really was as good as it seemed to be. But it appears the consensus was that it really is that good! Yay!

Aw! I love this .gif, too!

It really is amazing to me how much this season is doing it for me.

I've watched it three times (so far) and it really is that good! :D

(It's brilliant having kids! "Mum - can we watch Doctor Who again?" "Of course you can, darling!")

And there was much rejoicing! :D

(Now let's hope that the Moff can make the second half live up to this one...)

and it only just occurred to me today that the Doctor knows *exactly* how Rory feels. He, too, has witnessed his best friend walk past him as if he was just another guy, not worth a second glance. Indeed, You're talking about Jamie right? :( The look on the Doctor's face when Rory asks "did she miss me?" just SO very much displayed that he feels for Rory (and how guilty he is that it happened ( ... )

I was thinking of Donna actually (at the end of Journey's End), but of course Jamie (and Zoe) are there too, adding to all his issues with mind wipes... *hugs the poor Doctor*

Oh god yes!

<>Speaking of which I was just entirely happy to see the Doctor and Rory interact with each other again, they just play off each other so WELL. I love that the Doctor forgot that Rory wasn't supposed to be there with them because it shows that it'd became natural for him to be around.... OT3!!!
Word!!!

Even though he turned out to be an auton, he still SO VERY MUCH believed he was Rory, and it just broke my heart when he was screaming "I'm a thing! I'll kill you, just GO! PLEASE NO I DON'T WANT TO GO! I'M RORY!". ;_;
Same here! :( ETA: He'd better survive the finale. I mean - he's already died twice, three times would be a little silly.

And oh Amy ( ... )

Woah, I don't know how the heck I didn't think of Donna, especially since it's the incident with her that should be foremost on his mind as it was the most recent. Poor Donna.... I think maybe it's because Jamie was another male companion of the doctor's that had to deal with a memory loss thing.

Sometimes our brains work in mysterious ways.

Also, poor Doctor.

NGL, it's a bit of a shock to click on a random review from who_daily to find yourself quoted back to you. Nice shock, though :-)

Firstly the Amy/Doctor talk about the ring. I just love it on too many levels to count. The Doctor’s protectiveness of the ring - when he says ‘Someone I lost’ the weight of Rory’s loss sits so heavily on him . . . “Does it ever bother you, Amy, that your life makes no sense?”
Best scene of the episode. Hands down. Just may have knocked the interrogation scene with Alaya off the pedestal for Matt's best scene of the season--I'm gonna have to think about it though. So many emotions. So much restraint. Doctor being so old and so vulnerable and so gentle but also a little bit manipulative. Mesmerizing. My favorite beat was when he's trying to get the ring back but Amy pulls it away and he's all "Do you mi . . ." and then he drops his head " . . . mind?"

“The universe is vast and complicated and sometimes impossible things just happen and we call them miracles.”
Moff has freaking word magic. That part made me ( ... )

Oh good! And you're in good company... (I read through the first few pages of the reaction post, and your comment just stood out! The sheer enthusiasm made me smile and realise that this was exactly how I felt too!)

*nodnodnod* Restraint, that was the word I was after when I was writing this. I could watch him all day.

Oh God yes. I just... run out of words. (MAGIC acting, that's what it is. MAGIC!)

Came back to this post, partly for the RIVER RIVER RIVER thing (which I'll need again), but also just to read what you said, and...

I think River would make for a perfect Doctor lite episode. It would be awesome, and we could get actual relevant character and/or plot development out of an ep that's usually a one-off.
*dies laughing* She got her own freaking SEASON! OK, so what you meant was probably something along the lines of 'A chapter from the life of River Song' (possibly with her own team), but... How were we to know that she'd be so very tangled up in the Doctor's life? *happy sigh*

Oh and this:

and Moffat, whatever anyone else says about him, has a genius for hitting those emotional resolutions right. His endings *glow*.
Is very reassuring. Esp considering that the post was written at the point we are at now - i.e. the day before The Big Finale.

Um, goodmorning?

Are you planning your squee ahead of time?!?! lololol *squishes you* Or if you're planning to make fun of me, I would support that too.

Yeah . . . very dramatically underestimated Moff's commitment to providing River story. Very dramatically. Someday I shall adjust to this idea, I swear.

Yup! Like Owl's phrasing about it all ending in hugs. And probably sparkles <3 Need a happy ending rather badly here . . . though mostly worried Amy and Rory will get shortchanged ( ... )

I've seen it at last and I agree with everything you said!

The cybermen have never been cooler.

I was a bit afraid of something too sentimental and sappy (with a happy ending for Amy/Rory) when Rory showed up but it's Moffat so it didn't turn out that bad.

For being just this slightly ridiculous looking man, with a face too young for your eyes.

You described him perfectly.

'Twas all *awesome*! In Moff we trust!

Aw thank you. Not very original, I don't think, but it just fits.
