Well, we sorted out all the changes we wanted and then headed off to see the builders on Sunday with, we thought, all the necessary information. We were almost right. We had quite a productive chat and then found out that we needed not just the Lot number and DP number but also the DP map. I had not the slightest idea what a DP map was. Truth to ( Read more... )

Would also be good if you don't need that extra 30cms too!

It would be good. However, the lot doesn't comply with the requirements of complying development. We may have to use the other development guidelines after all. Why doesn't the lot comply? Because it's wedge shaped and the frontage is less than 15 m which is the minimum for a block of this area, even though its shape means that it gets wider very quickly.

Have sent another query off to council. Still think this whole thing should be easier.

Of course over the years 'guidelines' come about which don't necessarily always apply to the blocks existing in the suburbs...

How far back from the front are you setting the house, and at that point is the block 15ms and does that help or not?

Sometimes excited. Often apprehensive at this stage and totally frustrated with the complexities of the paperwork. I'm sure that the excitment will come and go at various stages, especially towards the end of the process.
