Maureen Dowd is certainly a very natural choice. One of my friends once characterized her as "the world's most famous high school junior". However, she's not often actively harmful, the way Bob Novak and Bill Kristol often are. Chris Hitchens and John Tierney are often pretty awful, but they are also often quite interesting and raise good points. I guess that's sort of par for the course for "contrarians" though.
