Experimenting with a narrow browser

Skipping the boring parts of this, I'm trying instead of my accustomed wide-as-possible browser (all the better to show lots of tabs in, m'dear) to go with a narrow browser window, with only a few tabs visible at once. Might help me make more use of this 30" lcd panel I have at work... this was brought in part because of how narrow the columns are ( Read more... )

Best columns are about 11 words wide. People spent some money on researching that. The problem with ever glitzier and wider websites is well-know. I just refust to kowtow to it and use a browser wide enough to contain Bugzilla. Everyone else, welcome under the scrollbar. If they scatter necessary information into bars, I just tend not to visit such places.

BTW, Youtube is only slightly annoying in this regard. It's not excessively wide, but its CSS in Firefox has no margin on the left (zero offset). That would be not too bad, but then there's a 50 pixel empty space in the middle, where 10 would suffice.
