I love this! I was hoping someone would write fic exploring Nate and Beth's relationship more than we ever got to see on the show and here it is. And I think you captured Nate's voice very well, especially the part at the beginning about his dopey brother. I can just hear Nate saying that about Eli.

This is a great start. I can't wait to read more!

(Question, for when I make the story tag for this: is the fic title 'Second' and the chapter title 'Flowers and Small Crashes'? That was how I was reading it, but I wasn't sure so I just wanted to double-check.)

I absolutely love that you're doing this. <3 Hindsight fics are always awesome, and adding to that that it's a deeper look into a great pairing that never got the airtime it deserved lines this fic up to be made of win. I love your kinda klutzy, disorganized Beth - and that Nate made her let him put the mess away (why am I seeing their next date being a reorganization of her kitchen now? xD). Also, the voiceovers at the start/end are a nice touch, too. Can't wait to see where you take this.

The fic is called Second. There's going to be a reference to that later in the fic. :) But if it looks confusing, I'll alter the title, so it just says 'Second - ch. 1'.

And I'm glad you liked it! Like I already said, I was a bit worried I didn't have it quite right. As for their next date, well, you'll just have to wait and see!

Nah, I think you got the characterization down great. Nate gets bumbly and flustered when he's nervous, and he got nervous around Beth - especially when they were just starting off. <3
