I know! I just picked it off the shelf at the used bookshop, totally judging it by its cover and a randomly opened page, and I loved it. :)

I had to read it for class and just, eugh. Every book in the syllabus should have been called Nothing Good Happens At All For 400 Pages, seriously.

And yeah, I had to read that and Red Badge of Courage and one other one I'm forgetting at the mo' and write a paper on ~American realism~ in fiction. MOST POINTLESSLY BLEAK AMD DEPRESSING BOOKS EVER.

Just a plain old English class - the focus was argumentation I think? I'm getting my prerequisites out of the way at Foothill. :)

Anyhow, we had to read McTeague, The Jungle, Germinal, and some Hemingway. It's a testament to how unbearable the others were that the Hemingway stories felt like a respite!

Ugh, I want to see A Single Man so badly! It looks amazing, and totally up my alley (aka WILL MAKE ME CRY).

Also I deleted my other comment lest it show up in Rep staff Google alerts. :P
