I adore film. I make it a point to go to film festivals and find video stores that buy independent movies only.

I feel like I have watched every movie I could want to. I'd still like to see American Splendor, and I am considering whether or not I should add Capturing the Friedmans to my list, because so far this summer has been void of entertainment and it saddens me.

You should suggest a movie if I havent listed it. I will give you ten thousand kisses.

Lars von Trier wouldnt have had a movie without Bjork. I thought the context was novice but ignorant; the way in which he directed a film about blindness was brilliant, but his depiction of America was ignorant and made me lose interest in a hiccup. I vilified his efforts until I saw what he did with Bjork during the killing scene of her neighbor and her death.

She truly inflicted the audience with intelligible beauty, and made them hear the tremor of her devotion when she sang. It made me cry, too.

bjork was good.. but, she didn't make the movie... the director knew what he/she was doing... the whole move was suppose to be ignorant... i think the story was trying to communicate the ignorance people have for a mothers love... the extremes a mother will go to, to protect her children. so, in that respect... the ignorant depiction of america was just a nuance of that motive... however... my personal opinion is that america and americans are ignorant. it was probably the directors opinion also...also... i think the whole movie had more effect because it was filmed in such a raw way.. no filters, no slick editing.... it really drew me in...which i think it was suppose to do... and also... bjork singing 'these are just a few of my favourite things...' i was balling... other than the fact i think she's godlike in looks and owner of the universe as a singer... she did well.

I meant his misinterpretations of the culture. Most Americans are ignorant.

Have you seen Talk to Her or Y Tu Mama, Tambien? They are really incredible. We have similar taste in movies, so you might enjoy those.

Yeah, I've seen both of those. And Sex and Lucia. I was impressed with the amount of dick in Y Tu Mama Tambien but thought Talk to Her was really trite.

I liked your application, though. Do you have any other suggestions?

In the Mood for Love is one of the most visually stunning films I've ever seen. So is Rabbit-Proof Fence. Sexy Beast, Earserhead and Blue Velvet are all pretty great and Capturing the Friedmans is a wonderful documentary out right now.

And then, for old stuff, there is, of course, All About Eve, Now Voyager and, of course, Roman Holiday Ha! Practically anything with either Bette Davis or Audrey Hepburn.

I'm sure you've seen quite a few of these. These were just the first things that came to my mind.

I've never seen Sexy Beast, & I have a hard time sitting through most older movies, but I think I have a really good idea of your taste. I'm going to make some suggestions as well.

Ingmar Bergman's- Persona
Gus Van Sant's- Mala Noche
Matthew Barney's- Cremaster 3
Todd Hayne's- Safe
Gaspar Noe's- Irreversible
Jacques Doillon's- Ponette
Jim Jarmusch's- Deadman

Deadman is a little too stiff for some people, but I appreciate it immensely.
