Yeah, but for those happily with the ones they care about, it's also a day to strengthen their relationship... Or weaken it if the guy fails to act on it.

Which is why it sucks to not have that one to make feel special.

I don't think it should be all on the guy to do special stuff, if you do celebrate it. It's hard not having anyone on that day, since it serves as a reminder of singleness often. I'm sorry, but you'll survive.
