There's nothing like spending time with a dying man to make you snap out of twenty something self-absorbtion.
Not something I usually talk about here.. too close to home maybe. Plus I know I wouldn't want to read it. Yet sunday was simultaneously one of the most beautiful yet heartbreaking days of my entire life.

mine too. it's pretty amazing really, it's sheer guts and love of life that's kept him alive this long. Blessing and a curse now though. Can't imagine how it'd be to be living on borrowed time when your body essentially still works perfectly

Wow, that is so heartbreaking. I often feel it is harder to see someone deteriorate and lose their quality of life rather than to just lose them suddenly.

I hope he does regain some of his former self and the depression does subside a little for him before he goes. It would be lovely if his family and friends have memories of him as he once was.

*hugs* My thoughts are with you dude.

hey thanks babe.. it's weird, we had an absolutely beautiful day this sunday just gone, even rode the ferris wheel at luna park as the sun was setting. gorgeous. and you wouldn't have even known anything was wrong with him. It's a rare thing to be able to say goodbye like this, and it's not like it's all bad.. i'll always have some amazing memories of this time I suppose. I think everyone's just finding it especially tough lately because, horrible as it sounds, nobody was expecting it to last this long.
