Elizabeth's grand theory of Faramirs

This isn't nearly a decade late or anything! It basically consists of a good portion of my posts at Emyn Arnen and Men of Gondor, sadly inaccessible though they are. So, for anyone who might not know (somehow): I do not like Faramir in the movies, and this is mostly an exploration of their differences from that perspective. Wow--this is insightful, articulating precisely what always vaguely bothered me about Faramir's portrayal in the movies. Although it's sort of funny as I seem to be making nearly a full circle in regard to them: started out loving them, gradually started noticing all the holes and short-comings and lack of Tolkien, and am now nearly at the point where I can view them as someone else's version of the same "myth". Not as good a version as Tolkien's, but that's less bothersome than thinking of them as an adaptation of the books.

Also, hi! I'm not exactly sure how I wound up here, but am glad I did.
