Paul wants to know if a duck can cry

He was singing a song he learned in Kindergarten today and in it the mother duck cries because none of her babies came home. Paul wants to know if this is actually possible. I can't find the answer. Does anyone out there know?

No. I saw a duck hit by a car once. It died. Not only did it not cry, but none of the other ducks did.
Nor did the ducks remember it. A couple of weeks later, I saw a duck in the same area, wandering into the same place on the road.

A white-fronted goose ran around it, flapping its wings and hissing, chasing the duck away from the road.

What was fascinating about this to me was it suggested that ducks do not have long-term memories, but geese do.
