Ruta's book is SO lovely, and Ruta in person is lovelier--gracious and kind and full of fascinating details about her research and adventures. It is wonderful to see that writers can still be so passionate about their subjects (and still be tackling big, controversial historical topics) even in this all-too-blasé 21st century of ours. Thank you, Ruta!

I met Ruta in 2008 when it was looking bleak for BSofG. Some wonderful people in the biz had told her it was 'unmarketable' and that was a tragedy in itself. BSofG is such an amazing story and it was wonderful news when I heard it was going to go to print - now I'm thrilled it's a finalist for a Morris Award! Totally deserved!
