Well, I don't believe for a minute that you have any time at all to write anything, but I can understand the guilt and jealousy! Still, if you don't have an in-built, rock-solid excuse for not writing, then I don't believe one exists.

It's wonderful to see you here and I love your icons (which I will steal shamelessly) and I hope we can keep up with your incredibly busy life in this way.

And, hey, maybe we can discuss Pros! Share some writing! Inspire stories! Use exclamation points without fear!

Woohoo! A real comment. This is a day of momentous firsts. Thank you for christening my comments page

And, yes, I should be in bed, but I spent half today asleep already and now I'm not tired. Which won't, unfortunately, be the case when I have to get up tomorrow morning. Life's very unfair.

Hi - I hope you don't mind a stranger popping into your lj so quickly, I saw your comment at msmoat's livejournal and just had to come over (that sort of thing happens on lj, I'm afraid...) I guess I really just want to be completely fannish and say that your "Voice Over" is my absolute favourite Prosfic. And I've read a fair amount of Prosfic over the last year! *g* The atmosphere, the lads, the setting, the gentle humour that just jumps out to ambush you when you're enthralled in other sentences - it's all just perfect! Thank you so much for writing it ( ... )

Hello,

I'm delighted to have a stranger popping in so quickly. Especially a stranger who says such lovely things . You're very kind, and I'm so glad you enjoyed 'Voice-Over'. I'd be honoured to have you friend me; I hope you won't object if I return the compliment.

I apologise in advance for the boringness of my real life stuff. I'm a bit one-track minded at the moment (although always with room for Pros), so I'm hoping LJ will help to keep me in touch with the real world (Alaska! That sounds very romantic, but I'm a sucker for snow, so that automatically adds glamour - I hope it's as spectacular as it sounds).

And, talking of atmosphere, it's great to have an opportunity to tell you how much I enjoyed (and am very jealous of ) your pirate challenge story. Lovely. I've really liked everything I've read of yours, but that's definitely my favourite. I hope you're writing lots more? I look forward to the Halloween challenge entries to find out ( ... )

*Terribly* belatedly... a reply! By which you may gather that I completely understand the whole lack of time thing... and I strongly suspect that your rl isn't at all boring, so post away! I mean - sonic hedgehog genes? I love the geekiness of scientists *g* (I'm on the verge of almost-being one myself - well, most likely nearly a geek, but also the scientist thing - so I can say that, right?)

Alaska is pretty spectacular. You really do bump into moose outside your front door (which is less good when, say, you have a plane to catch, cos they can be deadly when they're mean...), and the northern lights are my favourite thing ever (after the lads at the moment), and there is such a thing as the black aurora. And sometimes just seeing the snow takes your breath away. Then again, one of the most Alaskan things about my cabin right now is that there is an old toilet outside one of my windows, so... *g ( ... )

Welcome to LJ! We're a fun lot, with apparently no qualms about leaping on people and friending them. :D *blushes*

Anyway, it's good to see you here, even if you don't have the time to write. And you never know, inspiration may strike. Stranger things have happened.

Hello! And thank you for the warm welcome. I'm still trying to get the hang of this LJ business (like the etiquette for friending people, for example - do I just ask...?) and the strangeness of conducting half public/half private conversations. But it certainly seems like fun.

As for writing; inspiration keeps striking - it's application I seem to have the problem with . Well, that and time. Life's quite jam-packed (I'm a medical student, so there's a lot to cram in), and when I do have spare time I feel horribly guilty if I spend it doing something frivolous like writing instead of studying. But I want to write - and I'm hoping seeing everyone else here talking about the writing they're doing (not to mention reading the results) might spur me on to do something.

etiquette for friending people

It varies. Most people who have a 'policy' (for example, don't like being friended without being asked) put something to that effect in their userinfo. Others, such as myself, are more laid back about it and use friending as a way of bookmarking journals they want to read. If people friend me, I look at their LJ to see if it looks interesting, and friend them back if I fancy. Purely selfish, I'm afraid.

A medical student? Bet you are busy then. Still, if/when you have a moment to spare, it'll be great to see something from you again, and in the meantime you can have fun reading and chatting. I know I certainly do. :D

I've rashly friended you without asking. (Didn't know I should, sorry.)

Fear not. It's only me.

Hello! And I'm very glad you did (friend me, I mean). Now I can friend you back .

And, of course you don't need to ask - I was just nervous about offending people I don't know by friending them and then finding out that they like to be asked first (didn't want to feel like a stalker, reading a stranger's journals without asking permission. But that might just be my paranoia - after all, if people are posting publicly, presumably they want to be read. I hope!)

You commented over in the discoveredinanlj comm, and that led me...here! I'll join the throng and tell you that Voice-over is one of my absolute favorite Pros stories also--in fact, I just rec'd it to gmta_nz yesterday, when she was asking for must-read stories on her birthday.

I'm new to the fandom, introduced to it by the lovely przed, and have written one story so far (Four Hours On, Four Hours Off) for the summer_of_78 comm. But I have hopes that RL will let up eventually and give me some time to write more. But you know all about how that goes; RL doesn't always cooperate. If you have any time, you might also join us over at www.thetvlounge.co.uk where there's an active Pros discussion board. I go by FJBryan there.

And I hope you don't mind if I friend you?

Hello,

And thank you! It's lovely to hear that you enjoyed Voice-over. I'll be visiting summer_of_78 to read your story as my pre bedtime reward for being good and working this evening.

And please do friend me. I'm still diffident about friending strangers, so it's great when people take the matter out of my hands and I can just reciprocate .

I was very iffy about LJ to start off with, but I'm a convert now - everyone's been so welcoming, and it's wonderful to see so much Pros-centred creativity going on. Very inspiring!
