Snow!

Which just about says it all, really. It snowed today (or rather, last night, so I had the thrill of waking up to snow this morning). Real, lying-on-the-ground, turning-everything-white snow. What's more, some of it's still there despite the bright sunshine (and despite the great lumps of half melted stuff plopping off trees and onto my head when I ( Read more... )

Oh I'm so happy for your snow! Well done England! And sunshine as well? More than we've managed lately, up here... Happy belated birthday, for whenever it was.

Sometimes I think exclamation marks are practically sombre compared to the number of dot-dot-dots I use these days.

Thank you! For the snow wishes and the birthday wishes *g*. The sunshine looked lovely but I resented it all the same - how dare it try to take my lovely snow away? I'm now crossing my fingers for another fall tonight, but the forecast doesn't look too hopeful. I realise snow must be very old news to you in your beautiful white world, but this could be our only day this year, so I have to make the most of it. It's very good of you to indulge me.

And I'm a big fan of the dot-dot-dot myself *g*.

My daughter in London says they had two inches of snow this morning and rumour has it that Tetbury, a mere ten miles away (but on the top of the escarpment which may be more to the point) had snow yesterday. Lovely to wake up to that brilliant light, isn't it?
Here? Zilch, nada, not a flake. But the sky was looking kind of threatening last time I looked North so we may get some yet. Not that I'm desperate, you understand, cos when it snows here, being halfway up a hill, you have problems getting in or out of the town so it can be interesting!
And yes, wishing you a belated happy birthday, you didn't show up on my LJ birthday list, so apologies it wasn't on the day! Hope you had a good day and lots of pressies.
Strangely, looking at lists, I seem to have friended you but not vice versa, so I hope I okayed that with you at the time, I usually ask! If I didn't, I hope you don't mind!

It's weird, isn't it, how some places got lucky (or unlucky, I suppose, depending on your point of view) and others hardly any distance away didn't. I think Norfolk's done pretty well generally (it helps sticking out into the sea a bit, I think) but I have a nasty feeling this might be it for a while (or for the whole winter...). Being students, we like anything that gives us an excuse to skive *g*.

And thank you for the happy birthday. I haven't put mine in my details (paranoia!), so that's why it wouldn't show up. Now I'm an old, old woman I don't really celebrate it much but I do think snow's the perfect present.

The reason I didn't seem to have friended you was just that I'm an idiot. You did ask (very nicely *g*) and I said I was going to friend you too, thought I had and only just now discovered that I hadn't. But I have now!

I was astonished this morning when my daughter said this morning that the trains in London had mostly been cancelled because of the snow! For two inches? Make me wonder what would happen if it really snowed ( ... )

Yay for snow for you! So, does it make you think of "In the Bleak Midwinter"? We still have our snow on the ground, but it i finally mostly off the roads and even sidewalks. It has been a very strange winter with hardly any snow. And yet...even though it has been mild, I'm *still* longing for spring. And you know us, we won't get spring until May. Bah.

Enjoy your snow...and, hey, it was probably still your birthday in Alaska when it snowed!
