Any suggestions on a reputable place online to locate a simple afghan crochet pattern that would be pretty in shades of brown/beige homespun ( Read more... )

I haven't had a chance to go through the patterns on www.ravelry.com, but there are TONS of free patterns there. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do anything with yarn, yet!

Me neither! I learned to both crochet and knit when I was about 10, but I didn't do it enough to remember much more than the basic motion now.

Ravelry.com is probably the one I was trying to think of... Thanks!

The wife suggests "Lion Brand Yarn", their home-spun is her favorite to use. You can get it from Micheal's.
She says its' really soft and good for blankets.
