I just had a run in with the most monstrous family at the grocery store. They left their kids alone in line behind me. No idea where the parents went since they didn't come back to the cart with more groceries or anything. I have no idea what is wrong with some people. I've noticed in particular my neighbouhood has some really badly behaved families. I try to avoid the mall by my house because there are always children running around and screaming and whining and causing trouble. It always astounds me that parents let their kids act that way. If my brother or I had done that when we were little we'd have been in SO much trouble.

...dude. That is part of the reason why I don't want kids; I'd be mortified if my parenting skills didn't get through to them, and they were little monsters in public like that.

Also, I must commend you on not mouthing off to that lady when she kept nailing you with her cart. If that were me, I would have been like, "Excuse me, would you mind backing the hell up and waiting? Mangling my knees and ankles is not going to make me move faster, so just fucking CHILL."

Oh I was snarking away but trying to keep it low key, a family like that was not one I wanted to pick a fight with. Can't win with people who are that brain dead.

I think that if you actually attempt to parent your children they'd turn out well. The kids I see who are behaving this horribly are the ones (like in this case) whose parents also behave the same way. Kids learn what they see.

and yes, some people are just horrible. I have no idea how they were raised or how they live but clearly it's not a good life.

It may not be your family, but they sound like the type to spread their misery around to others -- including their own offspring, of course. People like that need to be fit with shock collars. Bump -- ZAP! Bet they wouldn't do it again.
