Pie!

*warning* this entry is all about my pie baking experiment. Probably boring for most people. Short story - pie worked out in the end. There's a link to photos at the end of this album ( Read more... )

That is so awesome! One of these days I'm gonna get brave enough to try making pie...

I think I skipped right past the "brave enough" step and was just silly enough to try making the hard thing. Then again I also make that chocolate fudge and candy making is tricky. But I don't want to start off with smaller things that I don't want to eat so I jumped right in to tougher baking. Possibly because I refused to believe it was going to be a tricky thing to do. My mom kept freaking out about the meringue part because she said it's really tricky to make but I found that aside from having the mixer turned up too fast and spraying some of it all over the place it wasn't tricky at all. It worked out well enough that I'm totally going to keep trying more.

Yeah, your fudge is awesome ^_^ And really, it's not so much "brave" I need to be as "willing to spend time and to possibly make a mess"! This coming from a girl who recently made chocolate cake/brownies from scratch....

What I found is the ones that are on my movie recipe cards are not the most accurate. Cute yes, but I was very glad that I was able to reference The Joy of Cooking which had most of the recipes in there except for marshmallow pie ;)

Yeah I didn't understand why a Canadian store didn't at least carry the special edition or why Borders would have the exclusive rights but not ship internationally, they're missing out on some sales there. In truth the recipes are just basic pie recipes but I like the cute little recipe cards and names for the pies ;)
