kiss_me_cassie prompted me "Hurley. Lost. Sometime around the big food bonfire."
It was a weird feeling to Hurley, being the hero. Having people give him high fives and smiling at him, engaging him in conversation...
But it was fake. He didn't want to be the hero -- people expected too much from him. The food came to Hurley out of luck, something that couldn't be duplicated. He didn't deserve to be the hero.
So he stole from them. He lied to them. He said he gave them everything, but instead he kept some for himself. He didn't even care that much about the food, the things he kept. Ranch dressing, candy bars, crackers that tasted like cardboard... it wasn't that he had them, it was that they were there, hidden.
That despite the fact a few days later he was no longer the hero -- that designation he didn't want anyway...
That despite not being the hero, he still kept secrets the way the real island heros kept them from him.
There's another prompt from
stgreyhounds that is a GA / LOST crossover, that is rapidly exceeding the length of a ficlet, so maybe that'll be expanded on. You'll just have to wait for that one. (Not too long, don't worry!)
