Hunger Games

3 AM and posting? Yep.

Well, we spent 3 hours in line, but going to the first show, especially when I'm busy until Saturday night and there were no teenagers in the audience? Totally worth it.

For the most part, I liked it. There were things that deviated from the book that I loved, and there were things that I missed. In general, I loved the feeling of it. I liked the camera angles and the choices they made stylistically.

But at the end, my sister and I just sort of looked at each other, and just thought the whole thing could have been more epic. Katniss and Peeta weren't nearly damaged enough. Neither one of them was hurt enough. My sister said that she didn't think they were nearly "in love" enough to make it believable... but even then I can see how it was cut for time.

But out of all the things they cut out, the scene where Peeta is taken up in the hovercraft first, and then Katniss comes screaming after him... that's the one I miss the most. Instead, they were both just like, oh yay, we won.

Where was her panic, her damage? She didn't lose her hearing -- the explosion barely phased her. The Mutts barely got them at all. Peeta didn't lose a leg, in fact, he barely looked worse for wear.

Now, don't get me wrong, I did really enjoy it. The capitol fashion was STUNNING. The visuals were unbelievable. The way they handled the District 11 part? Exceeded expectations. (and makes things easier for the next movie too, I believe.) The Seneca Crane? I LOVED his character. And the actors they got? One hundred percent, each and every one of them.

I just wanted it to be a little more epic at the end.

However, it did take me only about 8 minutes in the beginning to start crying, so you, know, there's that.
