PH 61 & Kuroshitsuji 56/57
So... read Pandora Hearts 61 and Kuroshitsuji 56 & 57 yesterday and today. And Oh, there is so much to love about these chapters.

PH 61 - Demios
While I’m still upset about Elliot dying, I think the story is moving along nicely, not too fast, not too slow.
We get to see what Elliot’s last words were (“Sorry, Leo.” d’aww) and we learn that the Head-huntress is in fact Vincent and his Illegal Chain, Demios (I think this is the first time someone has two chains?). Which is fugly (well, as fugly as a skeleton can be).
And creepy Yura and creepy Humpty-Dumpty are still effin’ creepy as hell.
Panel of Tsundere!Elliot and Smiling!Leo is beyond adorable (not taking into account the speech bubbles…).
Also, Vince acting like a big brother and being all mad at Lord Nightray for being a sucky dad is sweet. I like how he (V.) looks so much like Gil on page 35 (since you can rarely tell they’re brothers sometimes. Break was right when he said that they look exactly alike when they’re frowning).
Cute panel of Gil, Vince and Elly is so very cute.
I’m still not sure what to think about what Vince tells Leo about wanting to be erased from existence so Gil could be happy, though.
Oh and… LEO’S EYES!!!!!!! OMG, THOSE EYES !!!
Kuro 56 & 57
Though Yana-sensei could have done better than Titanic+Zombies+Shinigami, these chapters were fantastic, imo.
56. That butler, Guess (Cover - Grell crouching on his Death Scythe, huge full moon behind him, huge grin on his face. I love it.)
I’m amused (a bit) at Grell still having Madam Red’s coat after all this time (that, or it’s a perfect copy). I love the manga version of him a lot more than the anime one. He’s not all that… idk… ditzy? when it comes to Sebastian. The attraction’s still there, of course, but he’s more… homicidal than fangirly, like in their first encounter.
The anime totally screwed him up. Anyway. Him and Ronald re-enacting the Titanic scene at the bow of the ship is hilarious, even more so because it’s obvious that the only one enjoying it is Grell. And it amuses me how Ronald is careful not to mention our dear butler. And the reason we haven’t seen Grell since the Ripper Arc is because he had been suspended.
On our heroes’ side, Sebastian has gone to see what’s going on with the ship (other than the zombies), and left Ciel and Lizzy with Snake. From whom the kids get separated. They decide to go through a vent to escape the enclosed space they’re in but in order to do so Lizzy needs to get rid of the dress… which she opposes with all she has (saying she want Ciel to think of her as cute till the end, probably thinking they’ll most likely die. Also, it might also be the time’s mindset of girls having to be properly dressed in front of others or it’s a sin or smth… anyway.) Ciel is not amused and literally rips the dress off of her, leaving her in her undergarments and yelling that if she dies, it’s over, she’ll never be cute again, never wear cute clothes again.
After this, we move to Sebas-chan… in only his dress shirt…with a couple of buttons open… soaking wet… drool… (why, yes, I am distracted by the hot) Too bad he steadily dresses back up throughout the next pages… And announcing (at the same time as Ronald says it to Grell) that the ship will sink within the hour.
57 - That butler, struggle (Cover - Ciel and Lizzy holding hands while running. Is adorable.)
People in the lower classes are being locked up and left to drown. People in the first class are being attacked by zombies. Either way, most of the passengers die. The Middlefords though, are kicking zombie asses. Royally.
The banter between Grell and Ronald is still cute (but I still don’t ship it, never will). And Grell cutting a carriage w/ 2 horses running wildly, in one clean stroke, is badass.
Sebby arrives in time to save his young master from kissing the floor hard. Ciel had started coughing in the previous chapter and does so again but keeps Sebastian from making too much out of it so as to not let Lizzy find out about his asthma, or have her worry about it, if she does know. (Though, as family, and his fiancée, I find it hard to believe she doesn’t know.)
The Shinigami drop in to play. And Grell decides he wants a Death-Match with Sebby (that’s "even hotter than a love romance") and manages to let water and zombies into the room in the process.
While Sebastian is busy holding off his two opponents, the zombies are closing in on the kids. Ciel’s down for the count because of a hurt leg and his gun’s no good. Lizzy tells Ciel (while being surrounded by the creeps) that she ‘wanted him to think of her as cute til the very end’ with the most painful smile on her face. And Ciel yells her name in distress…
...only for her to prove she’s Marchioness Frances Middleford’s daughter by whipping out (of hammerspace) a sword which she puts straight through a zombie’s skull, much to Ciel’s and Sebastian’s shock. then she goes on a zombie-killing-spree, looking absolutely badass, hair and dress flaring everywhere, swords in both hands, protecting her fiancé without much effort. Ciel is… shocked to say the least… and in awe (who wouldn’t be, with Lizzy’s sudden change?)
I love her in these last few pages; how she still says she wanted him to see her as cute, not like how she is now, saying that she will protect him, as the daughter of a British Knight, as the wife of the Queen’s Watchdog. This last page revealing the fact that she knows of this role of Ciel’s is something I don’t find all that surprising. Lady Frances would know, and of course she would prepare her daughter for her future role as Ciel’s bride.
Anyway. I’m willing to bet (since we’ve only seen Ciel’s shell-shocked expression, and only on panel of Sebby after Liz first brought out the sword) that everybody else in the room is just as shocked and in awe and quietly watching as he is. I can just see the 3 fighters having stopped their squabbling, jaws dropped, staring at the little girl that's kicking serious ass.
And I just Love the panel on page 31 with her from the back, dress flaring out, swords in both hands, silhouettes of zombies in the background with heads sent flying. And that last page. Just beautiful. ♥ Little Miss Badass just stole the show, and I love her for it. :D
