The Causeway, Sunday evening

Ella and Mandy stood near the causeway off the island, waiting for Mandy's coach.

"Did you enjoy your visit?" Ella asked. "I was so happy to see you."

This may have been obvious.

"It was wonderful to see you too, sweets." Mandy said. "And I got to meet your teachers, all of whom had only good things to say about you."

A smile played about Ella's lips. "I like my classes," she said. "Some of the work can be difficult, but they're all so interesting."

She paused. "What did you think of Minsc?"

"That man is a few marbles short, but seems like his heart is in the right place." Mandy said. "And there's no chance of you getting hurt in that class, as I understood it."

"They don't seem to study ogres, at least," Ella said, meditatively. "A pair of brownies attacked me once, but they just wanted a kiss and I fought them off. And it's all good to know for when I come home."
