"Okay," Rikku announced, sauntering back into the room with a basket full of laundry. "Do you know what I love? The way towels smell when they're just out of the dryer. They're all warm and fluffy and it makes me want to go take a shower even if I just had one, 'cause then I can --"
She stopped mid-ramble, shooting her roommate a concerned glance. "Whoa. Bad day?"
"Oh, no," Rikku said, dropping the laundry basket and pulling up a chair. "Are you okay? What happened? Did he do something awful? I can totally go beat him up if you want me to."
"It's not like that," Ella said. "And, Rikku, I knew you would say something like that, like I should be angry with him, and I'm not. Things just didn't work."
