Hopefully, an opportunity will arise where I can continue this tale... but I've posted many other items related to this story and this world. You can find them by looking up my entries with a "saga" tag.
I remember these two from past stories, but I hadn't realized that Corey wasn't human. Now I'm curious as to what he actually IS, especially since he looked not just human but monstrous to Jon. Alien, perhaps?
I've written at least two stories which indicated that Corey wasn't human, although in one of the tales the matter was referenced somewhat obliquely -- The villain of the piece was demanding to know *WHAT* Corey was. The other piece, however, explicitly states that Corey is from "another world"... which in the context of the story means another dimension/universe. But I guess the word "alien" would be an accurate description...
Granted, I haven't put my tales involving these characters in chronological order, but over the course of the stories I make it pretty clear that Corey is extraordinary in a great many ways, ranging from his incredible skill in the mystic arts to the fact that he only needs 15 minutes sleep a week... and has reliably prophetic dreams. So on the one hand, it's hard to imagine anyone viewing Corey as being completely human.
That being said, under normal circumstances, Corey looks and sounds entirely human, though he sometimes seems rather emotionally insecure... but let's face it, that last issue is not a "red flag" in and of itself. But perhaps more importantly, for most of these tales Corey is utterly convinced that he himself is human -- indeed, for a very long time Corey doesn't even recognize how extraordinary his talents actually are. I'll just say that it's possible that Corey is able to "convince" the people around him that he's human because that's what he truly believes...
I have always been intrigued by the sentient weapon idea since I started playing D&D in 78 at age 8....but this has its own energy and movement. Enjoyed

That everyone else seems to notice Corey's differences but that they're now invisible to Jon is interesting all on its own.
