This is a fascinating read. I have heard that Rodin allowed casting his works anew but not that many of his famous sculptures were conceived as part of Hell's gates nor that the Thinker is really a Poet.

Thank you!

I loved the history behind The Thinker and the Gates. You did a good job presenting it in an interesting fashion which certainly kept my interest and attention. I did not know about the museum in Philadelphia, and if I ever visit the city, I will be sure and go to the museum.

The Rodin Museum is just one museum in Philadelphia -- there's a whole neighborhood that's known as The Museum District. It would take several days to fully appreciate all the museums in Philly... so keep that in mind when planning your trip.

Thanks for the feedback!

What I really want is one of the legendary authentic Philly cheesesteak sandwiches! Can't appreciate all that art on a hungry stomach.

Good point!

In all seriousness: Last year, US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT magazine rated Philadelphia as the #1 tourist city in the United States, and as a result of that one of my sisters decided she wanted to celebrate her birthday there, which lead to an impromptu family reunion of sorts. I must say that I was very impressed with how reasonably priced the food and accommodations were in Philly... though I must also say that I live in NYC, which is one of the most expensive cities in the world, so my view may be biased. Still, I would heartily recommend a trip to Philadelphia if you can find the time; we had a great time there.

It's always a fascinating history lesson! Why am I not surprised that the Gates of Hell would be located in Philly?! Terrific as always.

W. C. Fields was notorious for bad-mouthing Philiadelphia; now you know why. ;)

Glad you enjoyed it... and thanks for the feedback!
