Do you ever have a book pop into your head after you haven't thought about it in years?  There have been so many books that I was obsessed with for a short period of time, only to be so disappointed when I went back to them years later.  Sadly, that is most of Mercedes Lackey.

For some reason this book, Carolina on My Mind, popped into my head this ( Read more... )

The book you're thinking of is one of my absolute favorites, like, ever. Secret of the Unicorn Queen, Swept Away. I think that there were 6-7 books in the series. I used to have them all, but I've misplaced 3 and 6, I think. The prince was under a spell that shifted he and his men into huge eagles, and the "sentient watch" was actually a watch that Sheila could use to talk to her dr friend that always reminded me of Christopher llyod in back to the future. He would come back to her, at first on a skateboard, then on a bike, and finally in a car. Dang, that was a great series.

I still enjoy reading the old Misty Lackey books...mostly the Last Herald Mage and the Mage Winds trilogies, and The Fire Rose. I don't think I've ever reread any of her other books.

I know what you mean, though...sort of. Mostly books will pop into my head and I remember reading them, and enjoying them, but none of the details of the stories. Drives me bonkers.

I find that her older ones like The Herald Mage tend to still be good. Actually, when I think about her books that I've been disappointed by her latest books. I couldn't even get through her latest Valdemar book and Snow Queen.
