Title: 2012 Characters: France, England Summary: It's New Years' Eve 2011, and the world is going to end... again? (Late) fill for what_the_fruk's October Lovefest. Warnings: Booze Year: Modern
So I only saw this because of the pingback bot (thanks so much for thinking of my fic when compiling your notes, by the way, it totally made me blush :D) but I'm really glad I read it, because it works so well. England's whole attitude is incredibly believable, as well as appropriate for him in particular: you really got his nostalgic melancholy down, while making it all very understated and only subtly sad. The clock slowly winding down, and the old slippers. ;_; It fits his character perfectly.
France and England's attitudes to apocalypse scares are an endless source of amusement for me (because naturally, two old men like them would be able to see through all the nonsense) and their conversation here about ends-of-the-world gone by was brilliant. It's always fun and impressive to see a range of history in a fic, especially when it seems effortless like it does here. And the fact that France and England seem to do this sort of thing so often, and yet they still greet each other like that, just made me laugh. Typical. XD
Ah that's cool, I wasn't bothered by the thought that you hadn't said, I just thought it was awesome that you did link! That was thoughtful of you that you planned to let me know though. :)
I saw this because I'm a stalker and tracking the comments to the whole event, and I'm so glad I did - this was great, from start to end, the wonderful easiness that they share despite the banter, all the memories they have together and both still remember.
Pretty good story. I loved the way England and France talked about all the times the world had been supposed to end. It reminded me about the episode where they remember the year 999. It's so funny.^^

...is amazed. That was beautiful. I loved it in so many fucking ways. The whole conversation about world ends was quite amusing. The historical bits just made it more and more awesome.
You made me happy. Knoooow it. Okay, now I ahve to study for Civics. Doesn't tht just sucks... Though I'm weirdly more motivated now ._.
I'm taking a break from writing an essay and what do I see? A new story! Yay!
Your characterization is spot-on, as usual. I, too, loved all of the details about England (the clock and the wine, in particular) and the historical reminiscing. The way that you portray the nations today looking backwards is delightful, and continues to be my very favorite thing about Hetalia, in general. So thanks for feeding that hunger of mine. X3
