My thoughts during rewatch (they are little all over the place, sorry)
- I forget how raw and terryfiing this movie could be. Especialy during scenes in Afghanistan.
- I had tears in my eyes when Tony steps out of the plane after his return to States.
- I love the imperfection of Mark I. It really looks like it´s built in a cave.
- I don´t know if it´s just me but Tony before Afghanistan looks way younger than Tony during and after his capture.
- I love Tony´s interaction with Pepper. You could see he is already head over heels in love with her.
- How comes that Tony hasn´t scars on his chest? He had an open-heart surgery in Afghan cave!
- I prefer Don Cheadle´s portrayal of Rhody.
- It´s interesting to compare Tony´s attemps to master flight in his lab for the first time with his mastery of it during his capture in Iron Man 3 where he is perfectly balanced while using just one booth and flight stabilizer.
- How did Tony survive the fall in Mark I?
- RDJ´s acting in this movie is absolutely superb!
- The mask of the Iron Man suit has always the same expression but after Tony destroys the tank in Gulmira he looks ominous.
- I have never before noticed that Tony is wearing MIT´s alumni ring.
A few words at the end
Iron Man was the very first movie in MCU. Without sucess of this movie we´d have never celebrated the 10th anniversary of MCU. The creators took a risk but I think that they chose the right superhero to start with. Tony Stark is an imperfect man whose only superpower is his intelect. That makes him somewhat believable. It´s easier to believe that genius creates a flighting armour than that you gain superpowers from spider bite.
