Millions will tune in to see the two of them fighting in their trademark figure-hugging outfits.
Surely I can't be the only person who watches Buffy despite the fights, rather than because of them? It's not that I mind them, it's just they go on too long and I usually don't find them fightening/thrilling (except Willow and Glory in season 5 - that was a good fight).
(BTW, not seen season 6 yet, so no spoliers, please)
My usual reaction to action sequences in film or TV is to switch off until it's over and then have a quick look around to see who's still standing.
Buffy is usually the exception, partly because the witty dialogue so often continues during the fight scenes and partly because they sometimes do neat and surprising FX - but I've enjoyed them less since they lost the original stuntwoman, who was a good match for Sarah Michelle Gellar in height, build and usually hairstyle, and got someone who is taller and has a much broader frame. It shows particularly in her shoulders, and for me it's enough to break my suspension of disbelief in almost every fight scene, and then it takes me some time and energy to get it back again.
The mismatch with the stunt double is something that I simply don't notice unless I'm actually looking for it. It can be really blatant and it just passes right by me.

(I once acquired a new partner largely because said partner's description of himself in Britney drag caught my attention).

The fights and the pretty people are not an unwelcome quality, however.
