I used to be happy. I was reading through an old journal of "Happy thoughts, dreams, and ambitions". I started it in 2004. That was my senior year of high school. Apparently I've changed a good bit in 6 years. But then again, in some ways, I haven't. I expected the impossible then, and I still expect it now. I dunno. I don't think there's anything wrong with you, but my vantage point is further off. You know?

I do know that of all the friends I've made in KoL, you remain one of the more involved. You matter a lot to me, Elle. I want happiness for you. I want your dreams and goals to come to fruition, and I think you're pursuing them reasonably at a reasonable pace.

If the people in your life are getting you to a place of constantly questioning your self worth, that's worth examining, for sure, though.

Odd as it sounds, I'll call it edifying - it's nice to know I'm not the only one what wants a bit of appreciation without having to dance for it. And, I admit, I'm rubbish at letting people know that I appreciate them - I'm working on it, though.

Hope things brighten up a bit... sometimes, we need to hit bottom before we can climb back up. *hugs*

Being not in control of your life is extremely stressful, even people that normally have themselves really well together suffer badly with the erosion of self-confidence that unemployment brings. And in this economy more people than ever before are discovering what that feels like. So, it's absolutely normal for you not to be as carefree and happy as you were in years gone past - you're actually in a situation which comes with pressures. Even so, one way to combat that, that you you may want to try, is to recognize the moments when you are happy or enjoying yourself and focus on them for a moment, commit them to memory.
