Somehow reminds me of:
http://www.bodyworlds.com/en.html

That's where he might have got the idea from... I prefer his version without the dead bodies...

Yes.....I think you might be right he was also inspired by those bodies. I couldn't bring myself to go to that exhibition. But they are just bodies....I think I was emotionally disturbed by the self mutilating bit of Hirst's work. It came right at the end of the exhibition when one is tired and slightly bored of all the 'pretty' pictures.

I've seen those wax-preserved dead bodies... intersting if they were just preserved. What I found disturbing was the "posing" with footballs, sitting at a table and "eating"... or being bent into shapes...

It is disturbing...... even though he was trying to show us ourselves in all our vulnerability and miraculousness.....is that a word.....who cares....in our everyday lives. I'm too squeamish and all too aware of my mortality to have gone to see it.

"L'art pour l'art..." ... thinking something just pretty is also an effect desired by the artist... but then not even the purple and gold glitter (assuming *LOL*) on your toe nails can pass as "art for art's sake" :-) Unless, of course, "Pleasing" is not a desirable purpose. (The Sweet v. Manfred Mann *LOL*...)

'Pretty' often isn't enough.....anybody can do 'pretty'

*LOL* One of my toenails fell off after a man on the bus 'accidentally' stood....correction jumped on my foot. :-(

Oopss..*LOL* I meant Cascada. Niece has just done a cover version which is better than this as she has a stronger voice.

My grand aunt knits flowers... :-)

Ouch! That sounds painful! Gett well, soon! Can you fit into shoes?

I love that song and a great one for your niece to sing, as she HAS a much stronger voice than the Cascada singer. (And I don't like that pop-background... Patti Smith is THE rock-godess, how could anyone "mainstream" her songs?)

Back in 1978 at the "Old Grey Whistle Test"

Good for her! Better than scarfs.

Well I just took my nail off....easier.......*LOL* Don't be silly sweety...one can always fit into shoes.

Its a fabulous song isn't it? Of course Patti's original is a million times better. I like her newest version as she sings it with the passion it deserves as she now probably understands and appreciates passion better now that she's older. I certainly do. ;-))
