Hey Elle - have seen you around various communities and thought I'd add you. I'm originally from Enfield so we have that in common, among other things :D I *love* your 'I have chronic fatigue syndrome AND...' picture on your userpage!
hello. i remember leaving you a comment about funding for your elec wheelchair... (though it wasn't helpful) ... anyway, was wondering if you'd mind sharing your experience with me as I have been referred for a new epioc (power chair). Am a fellow MEer btw. x
Sorry it's taken me a while to reply, it's been one of those months when I've just been either crazy busy or worn out! I'm about to go add you, but am happy to answer any questions etc. there's many entires tagged 'powerchair' as well! It finally arrived about 3 months ago and it's amazing, I'm going to uni in 6 weeks but not sure i could've even considered it without it! It was through a charity in the end, i managed to find quite a few in my research! So not fun waiting! Ask anything you want!
I tried, but as i could walk 1 step i didn't qualify, never mind that I'm housebound without a powerchair! I also tried to find out if i could swap some of my care hours towards one but i didn't get very far! I do have a pdf of a recent DOH wheelchair service review which has some interesting reccommendations in it if you are interested, although not sure if they follow them at all1
Is there a reason why you don't think you'd qualify for charity funding? I didn't think i would either but managed it somehow with a lot of research! I also ended up with a powerchair with electric tilt and recline (perfect for bad days) which i don't think i'd ever of managed on the NHS! It's such a messed up system really!
