Three years. D: I know some have talked about the possibility of someone, less awful taking over in that time. But I highly doubt that will happen.

One of the main reasons they got in was because of the other party's instability; the recent Rudd/Gillard debacle really affected Labor's popularity. And even before that, there's been a ridiculous amount of infighting in that party; they've been through seven leaders in a decade. Sadly, Labor has managed to make itself look like one big mess. One of the Liberal party's main campaign strategies was making themselves look like the stable, reliable party. So a change of leadership between elections for the Liberal party would be an extremely bad political move. :/
