A week ago, badjujuboo made a post in which she challenged her peeps to come up with their favorite ten songs. I just finished my list and here it is. It is not profound or classy or impressive or really anything but silly (like me!).
I am totally stealing junkshop_disco's format and including vids for my songs.
In alpha order so none of the songs get jealous and so I don't have to stress about arranging them in some more complicated or meaningful way. It was hard enough just picking the songs!
Birdhouse in Your Soul by They Might Be Giants
Such distinct memories of singing this and dancing like crazy around my freshman dorm room with my roommate until our downstairs neighbors came upstairs and told us to cut that shit out. Jerks.
Disarm by The Smashing Pumpkins
I'm actually surprised that my list is, overall, pretty damn happy. Thank god I have this song on it! Everyone needs some Pumpkins.
Don't Stop Believin' by Journey
As pissed off as I was by the end of The Sopranos, I still love this song and will for ever and ever. (And I was born in Detroit and ended up a small town girl after that, so I feel something extra special for it.)
Drumming Song by Florence + the Machine
A new one, but... I feel like it has lasting power, so I threw it in. One of my favorite driving songs. Actually, these days, one of my favorite everything songs.
It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) by REM
I got married six years ago (six years this coming Sunday, actually), and during my wedding planning, I became really good friends with four other girls from this area. Two of us were married in May, one in June, and two in July. The fifth one ended up having room to invite all of us to her wedding, so we all went, brand new husbands in tow. And though I've always loved this song, I'll always love it particularly because the ten of us ended up dancing to it like crazy people at her reception (and we're still all really close!).

I don't usually care for live music, but it's this particular version of the song that I love. I don't really remember (god i'm so old) know why.
