You Got Me. It'd probably be helpful to read the rest of the verse first.
Jensen automatically perks up when he hears the front door open. It’s not like he’s been sitting here waiting for Jared to get home, but this is still new enough that he gets excited when he sees his husband after awhile apart. He stays on the couch, though, and doesn’t go running for the door like part of him really wants to.
“Hi, honey! I’m home!” Jared calls.
Jensen hears Jared’s keys hit the table in the front hall where they throw all their crap, then the sound of paper rustling. He’s learned Jared’s routine enough by now to know Jared’s sorting through the mail he picked up on his way in.
“How did your meeting go with our potential author?” Jensen yells back. He mutes the TV but doesn’t get up. There’s excited to see his husband and then there’s pathetic.
“Really well. I think I reeled him in.”
“You are quite the charmer.” Jensen smirks at Jared’s amused snort. He misses working with Jared every day. He loves his new position in the copy editing department, but he went from spending eight, sometimes up to 12 hours a day with Jared to going weeks without seeing him around the office. It’s strange and would depress him more if he didn’t come home to Jared at night. How stupid is it that he’s finally promoted like he wanted for so long, and he can’t fully appreciate it because he’s a lovesick idiot?
“Hell yes, I am! Dude was gonna go with Random House, man, can you believe that? I’m glad we got to him before he-”
Jared cuts off with a muffled curse. Jensen sits up on the couch, worried.
“Jared? What happened? You okay?” When Jared fails to answer, Jensen freaks out a little and hurries off the couch to investigate. “Jared?”
He turns the corner into the entranceway and finds Jared standing there with an envelope in his hands, staring at it like it’s a poisonous snake that might bite him.
“Jay? What’s going on?”
Jared wordlessly hands the envelope to Jensen, face down. He flips it over and immediately sees the words immigration services distinctly visible in bold print. Hand shaking, Jensen closes his eyes briefly.
Oh, shit.
They’ve been waiting for this for what feels like years, though it’s only been five months since they got married, and now he’s afraid to find out Ms. Ferris’s final answer.
“I don’t think I can open it,” Jared says in a small voice.
“Do you want me to do it, Jay?” Jensen asks. He doesn’t really want to either but if it’ll help Jared, he’ll do it.
“Yes. No. I just need-” He sucks in a breath and blows it out slowly. “I just need a minute.”
“All right.” Jensen cups Jared’s cheek and kisses him lightly, then presses their foreheads together. “Whatever happens, I go where you go, remember?”
Jared’s mouth tips up slightly at the corners, and he returns Jensen’s kiss just as gently. “Yeah.”
“Take your time. It’ll still be here later.” He brushes a thumb across Jared’s cheekbone before dropping his arm to his side.
“No. I can do it now.”
“Sure?”
Jared nods, so Jensen gives him the envelope back. Jared grips it silently for a long while before finally ripping it open. Jensen holds his breath. That small, thin envelope contains their future. It’s been frustrating living their lives in this limbo, never knowing when it all might change and turn everything inside out. But now they actually have to face the possibility of leaving New York.
Jared’s face clears, a bright smile stretching across his mouth. “I got it! Shit, Jen, it’s my green card!”
“Seriously?”
“Hell yes! I’m not going anywhere, baby!”
Stupid as it sounds, Jensen almost faints in relief. His knees buckle slightly, his vision swimming with sudden tears. Jared grabs him up in a tight hug, and they cling to each other, releasing the pent-up tension in equal measures of laughter and tears. Jensen tucks his head into the curve of Jared’s neck and just holds on, takes in the overwhelming feeling of not having to worry anymore, of no longer waking up and wondering if today’s the day Ms. Ferris will show up and try to take Jared away from him. The last few months with Jared have been amazing, but he never could quite let go of that fear.
“Jesus Christ, I don’t think I’ve ever been so scared of a piece of paper in my life,” Jensen admits, rubbing his nose against Jared’s shoulder.
“I know.” Jared presses him closer for a moment, then steps back, palms cradling the side of Jensen’s neck. He has that look in his eyes, that all-encompassing look of love that Jensen never expected to be on the receiving end of, the one that always calms him down and centers his whole body on his incredible husband. “But we’re free now.”
Jensen smiles and doesn’t stop even after Jared bends down to lick into his mouth. Wrapping his arms around Jared, he lets Jared control their kiss. He keeps it soft and slow but with that undercurrent of heat that’s always present when Jared’s mouth is on his.
“I love you,” Jensen murmurs against Jared’s mouth, words mostly lost in the kisses Jared’s still grazing against him. Not that it matters. They know the shape of the words on each other’s lips by now.
“Love you, too.”
Jensen pulls back some, because he wants Jared to understand this part. “You know I really would’ve moved to Canada with you, right?”
“I know, baby. It’s one of the reasons I love you.”
He leans back into Jared, moaning when Jared sucks on his bottom lip. “We should celebrate.” He wants to walk into the INS and give Ms. Ferris the finger or something else just as immature, but there are definitely better ways to spend their evening.
“You’re right. Go get changed, baby. I’m taking you out.”
“That’s not what I meant,” Jensen pouts.
Jared gives him a wicked grin. “I know. But I’m starving. We’ll save that celebration for later.”
“Promise?”
“I promise.”

“Ya know, this isn’t the lifestyle to which I’ve become accustomed,” Jensen mentions, glancing around the dive Jared swore up and down has the best pizza in New York.
“Oh, shut up. You’d never go to a fancy restaurant if I didn’t drag you in,” Jared counters, shaking his head with a pronounced eyeroll.
Jensen can’t maintain his disgust anymore and ruins it with a laugh. Not like Jared didn’t know he was faking anyway.
“Jerk. This is the last time I take you out for pizza.”
Jared kicks out at Jensen’s shin, but Jensen catches Jared’s foot between his own and rubs the toe of his shoe along Jared’s calf, then leaves their feet tangled together under the table. Jared gives him an easy smile. Jensen wishes he could lean over and taste the gentle curve of Jared’s mouth, but their server shows up then to take their order. They order two large pizzas, which Jensen knows Jared will mostly eat on his own.
They talk idly while they wait for their food. Jared tells him about an author he’s hoping will provide them with a new manuscript soon, and Jensen listens intently. He’s always been fascinated by Jared when he talks about authors and potential novels he’s interested in, even before anything happened between them. It was one of the reasons he put up with Jared’s bullshit, because he was so passionate about the work they did.
The pizza tastes as good as Jared promised. The crust is thick and melts in his mouth, and there’s just the right balance between cheese and sauce and toppings.
“Is it weird that I want to get my green card out of my wallet and stare at it?” Jared asks around a final bite of pizza. He pushes his plate away and wipes his hands on his napkin.
“Not at all.”
“It feels surreal that it’s finally over.”
“It’s been a long time coming. Feels like forever.”
Jared nods in agreement, grimacing slightly before his face clears, eyes lighting up. “We’re going to Texas, first chance we can swing it.”
Jensen expected that. Jared’s been talking about going to Texas since they got back. They’ve seen their families since then, of course. Their parents came to New York last month for Christmas. While Jensen appreciates them for skipping the traditional big Texas Christmas, it just wasn’t the same. “We can go to San Antonio for a few days, maybe stop in Austin to see Jeff.”
Jared grins. “That sounds perfect. I can’t wait to spoil Kate some more.”
“I’m glad you’re close to your family again.”
“That’s because of you.”
“I just made a phone call. You did the rest.”
“That was my moment, ya know.”
“Your moment?”
“When I fell for you, when I realized you’d called my parents for me.”
“Jared.” He’s wondered when it happened for Jared, but they’ve talked about it. The particulars never seemed important when they had so much else to worry about.
“You have no idea how badly I wanted to kiss you in the kitchen that day.”
“I wish you would’ve. It might have saved us some trouble later.”
Jared shakes his head. “No. I felt guilty for a long time about it, but I think everything happened that way for a reason.”
“You may have a point.” Jensen reaches across the table to cover Jared’s hand with his, greasy fingers slipping over the cool metal of Jared’s ring. Getting you’re the light of my life engraved on their rings had been a crazy whim, but had somehow turned out to be very, very true for them. “We’re married, and that’s all that matters.”
Jared flips his hand over to squeeze Jensen’s. “Love you.”
“Love you, too.” Jensen strokes a thumb along the back of Jared’s hand. “You ready to get out of here?”
“Yeah.”
Jared smiles, slow and perfect, and there’s no disguising the heat in his eyes. Jensen shivers and flags down their server for the check.

It’s not far to their apartment, so they walk the few blocks home. It’s a nice night despite the cold, the air crisp and clean. It’ll snow soon, probably tomorrow, but for now the sidewalks and streets are clear.
“God, I am so glad this green card shit is over with,” Jared says suddenly. “I hope we never have to see that cold-hearted bitch again.”
“I know.” Ms. Ferris seemed to take pleasure in making their lives hell, and Jensen would always hate her a little for that. “I was beginning to think we’d have to make a sex tape and send it to her,” he jokes.
Stopping abruptly, Jared crowds close to Jensen, the heat of his body obvious even through the thick layers of their coats. “Huh-uh. This,” he slides a hand down to cup Jensen’s dick, “is all mine. No one else gets to see or touch you.”
Jensen bites back a moan. “All yours. Promise.”
“Good.”
“Home now?” he begs, and Jared nods, pulling him into motion again.
The rest of the trip is a blur to Jensen. As soon as they’re in the apartment, Jensen pushes Jared against the door and kisses him, deep and hungry, tongues sliding slick against each other. When his lungs are burning with the need to breathe, he breaks away to lick across Jared’s jaw and down his neck.
“So, how does it feel to finally be a US citizen,” he asks, mouth on Jared’s throat right over his racing pulse point.
“Fucking fantastic. God, Jen.” Jared whimpers and inclines his head, baring more of his neck for Jensen to press wet kisses to.
“What do you want, Jay?”
“You naked and spread out on our bed.”
“I think we can handle that.”
Jensen tugs Jared away from the wall and down the hall to their bedroom, pausing on the way to divest Jared of his shirt, slowly unbuttoning it and peeling the sleeves down his arms. He leans in to suck at Jared’s collarbone, and Jared’s fingers convulse where they wrap around Jensen’s biceps.
“God, Jen. Come on,” Jared whines, hips bucking.
Jensen finally gets them into their bedroom, and Jared spins them around and backs Jensen up until he hits the bed. Falling back, Jensen stretches his arms over his head, heat sparking in his veins at the hungry way Jared’s watching him. Jared knee-walks onto the bed and settles on top of him, palm skimming under Jensen’s shirt as he kisses him hard.
“Need this off,” Jared insists, then backs up enough to pull Jensen’s sweater and t-shirt over his head. His mouth is on Jensen’s chest in the next breath, tonguing his nipple into hardness.
“Jesus,” Jensen groans, hands flying up to bury in Jared’s thick hair, holding tight as Jared sucks and bites at one nipple and then the other.
Jared shifts and slides a knee between Jensen’s, rocking his hips down, rubbing his dick along the groove of Jensen’s hip. Jensen moves with him, luxuriating in the slow burn of arousal settling into his bones. He assumed Jared would go at it hard and fast once they got to this point, but this is so much better. It amazes Jensen, how after months together, there are still new things to explore and learn about each other.
They grind against each other for countless minutes, alternately kissing and panting into one another’s mouths, hands caressing over bare skin. Finally, though, Jensen can’t take it any longer.
“Fuck me. Jesus, Jared, come on,” Jensen pleads.
As soon as Jared moans in agreement, Jensen fumbles at Jared’s belt, then quickly unbuttons and unzips his pants. Jared kicks out of his pants and underwear while Jensen shimmies out of his own, and they’re gloriously naked and undulating against each other again. Jensen only has a minute to revel in it, though, because Jared’s suddenly sliding down Jensen’s body, lips and tongue and teeth dipping along the planes of Jensen’s muscles as he goes. He ends up between Jensen’s spread legs, pressing his mouth to the crease of Jensen’s thigh. Looking up at Jensen through the dark smudge of his eyelashes, he smirks when Jensen’s dick twitches, literally jumping towards Jared’s mouth. Jensen would be more embarrassed if he weren’t so fucking hard and aching for Jared’s touch, whatever Jared wants to do to him.
Luckily, Jared isn’t a cruel man and fits his mouth over Jensen’s dick. He strokes his tongue just under the crown, and Jensen’s hips come off the bed, trying to push farther into that incredible heat. But Jared holds him down with an arm across his stomach and won’t go more than an inch or so past the head, no matter how much Jensen whines and swears at him.
He stops abruptly, leaving Jensen hanging with spit cooling on his dick. Jensen almost hits him but then he hears the familiar sound of Jared popping the cap on the bottle of lube. Jared gets his mouth back on Jensen while he works him open on one, then two fingers. Jensen writhes from the pleasure, closing his eyes and fisting the sheets. It’s too much, too good, and he doesn’t want to come like this.
“Jared, wait. I don’t-” He combs a hand into Jared’s hair and lifts his head. Jared’s mouth pops off him with a wet slurping noise. “Need you.”
“What do you need, baby?” Jared asks, like he doesn’t know what Jensen’s talking about.
“Your dick. My ass. Now,” Jensen replies, not caring how desperate he sounds.
Jared crawls up the bed and kisses Jensen, grinning. “You’re adorable when you’re cranky and turned on.”
Jensen growls and Jared laughs, but he also sits up, reaching for a condom. Lining himself up, he wraps his huge hands around Jensen’s thighs to spread him even more and pushes in slowly. Once he bottoms out, he pulls most of the way out and thrusts back in, so slow Jensen feels like he’s about to lose his mind. He keeps it steady and easy at first, until Jensen urges roughly, “Fuck me, Jay. Whatever you’ve got, I can take it.” Jensen can see Jared’s control snap at his words, and he fucks into Jensen hard, bending down to fuck his tongue into Jensen’s mouth in the same uneven rhythm.
“Shit, Jen. You feel so fucking incredible. Tight and perfect and God-”
Jared cuts off with a low groan and shudders. Jensen feels Jared’s dick grow even harder a moment before he shouts Jensen’s name and jerks through his orgasm. Jensen follows him over the edge a minute later, coming hot and hard over both their stomachs. Jared kisses him through the aftershocks, mouth moving soft and sweet and almost unconsciously over Jensen’s.
“Damn,” Jared says, rolling onto his back beside Jensen. He ties off the condom and tosses it in the trash, then grabs a dirty t-shirt off the floor to clean them up.
Jensen settles against Jared, head on Jared’s broad chest. “You know I love you, right?” he murmurs, brushing Jared’s sweaty hair out of his face.
“Yeah, I do, Jen. Love you, too.”
Jensen snuggles in close, sighing happily when Jared’s arms wrap around him.
