a conversation between my cats, about me

Jan 31, 2014 21:21

I read an article recently which posited that cats think their humans are giant, dorky, clumsy other cats. Dogs obviously react to people differently than they do to other dogs, and to their own humans in even more specialized ways. Cats, not so much.

The idea that Stripey and Henry think of me as their huge special needs cat mom just cracks me up ( Read more... )

I love this.

TudorCats would say "she's playing with that stoopid little box that shines again. Just poking it wif one of her claws. Don't get it At All."

An excellent summary of your cats' opinions of you!

To be fair, the story is a bit inaccurate. The book actually states that cats have repurposed cat-to-cat communication methods to communicate with humans.

That's true! I just love the idea of Stripey taking Henry aside and being like, "she's bewilderingly strange, but loveable still."

HAHAHA!

I once heard that when a cat licks you, it's his way of petting you. Like, the cats think we get the same feeling from his tongue he gets from our hands. Which we don't. At all.

Oats licks me all the time. I've come to the conclusion that she's taste-testing me to make sure I'm not a replicant. Either that or she's tenderizing me. She doesn't think I'm a giant cat. She thinks she's a tiny human.

I frequently think Henry is taste-testing me, too!

Hahaha! We used to like imagining the conversations the ladies were having about us. The quails are even chattier so they clearly must have even more commentary, although right now it mostly seems to revolve around the likelihood of treats when I walk up (which is in fact pretty good! I'm working on training them all to run up to me)

That's hilarious and cool that you can train the quail to run up to you. :)
