OMFG Dollhouse!!!

Just getting caught up with Dollhouse- why did it have to get so epic RIGHT AFTER BEING CANCELLED!?!?!

I'm serious, the last few episodes have had me wanting to jump up and down and squee like the Joss stan/ sci-fi geek/ post-apocalyptic lover that I am. I've loved this show through it's amazing moments  and its not-so-good ones, and these last few episodes feel like the biggest thank-you gift to the fans who stuck with it.

This show...it's different and uncomfortable. It's characters aren't always people you can sympathize with, and many times throughout it, you find yourself wondering who the good guys are. Those are things that most programs aren't doing and most are most likely the reason it got canceled, but for me, it's what I enjoy about it. It's amazing to watch and discuss and wonder how this whole thing is going to end. It's truly epic on a level that isn't usually seen on tv. God, I <3 Whedon.

The majority of the characters have so many layers, every time I think I know what's going on, something new is introduced that forces the characters to evolve even more. Everyone is constantly changing, actives are leaving their doll-states, becoming more self-aware (and in some cases, likable) and those in charge of them are constantly walking the fine line between protagonist and monster.

Adelle Dewitt  is especially good at this and one of my favorite characters because of it- she is cold and calculating, always having a plan for anything that could possibly happen, and most of the time, you don't know what her intentions are. This last episode just went to remind me of why she if the HBIC of this series.
She does things that are past morally questionable into downright wrong, but then she comes up with a plan to discover Rossum's secrets, and leaving you once again unsure of where she stands. I could write an entire essay on Adelle, and if it wasn't so late at night and I wasn't half- drunk, probably would. While Echo is supposed to be the star of the show and has really gotten to be a much more likable character, it's Adelle that steals the 'woman I tune in every week for' award.

Dollhouse, I'm going to miss you, you morally ambiguous piece of awesomesauce.

whedon is my master now, nerd talk, dollhouse
