Hee! Glad you liked it! I've always been somewhat pleased with it myself, which is not always the case with me :) Condensed awesome!!!!! It was an odd writing process, as I was definitley riffing off Maayan, but I don't really know how I did it ( ... )

Thank you! ::does the blushing thing:: I used to consume one heck of a lot of fic, back then, and had the good fortune to come in contact with some first class writers. In fact, I seem to remember that I got an LJ account so I could follow Maayan easily on here (in a not at all stalkery way, I hope, lol).

I think the fic had to be heartbreaking, as you say. I mean, it was written before PK Wars, but even though you get a resolution of affairs in that, there is no getting away from the fact that Crichton at the end, is so far removed from Crichton at the beginning, as to be almost unrecogisable.

And yet, such was his organic development on the show, I think it *was* easy to forget that the leather clad, half crazy, pistol toting John of the later years, wasn't always like that. And I liked the idea of juxtaposing it all in close quarters, basically, to make the reader cry, lol!

Oh man, this is fabulous. I have no idea how I missed it (actually, I do: RL ruins my reading time), so thank you for pointing me this way. I think the reverse structure works really well, and that line *points to quotation* just hits in the solar plexis. So very very cool. Also, so very very ... just... Oh John. *weeps*

"System of a Down" is my all-time favourite fanfic, so this is two, two, two great tastes in one.

Woohoo, you liked it!

I felt awkward, pushing myself forward like that, but your enticement of Sig into FS had reminded me to keep updating my LJ with my old fic. And then, you lingered on the development of John, and it just seemed such a coincidence as that is exactly what this fic is all about.

Yes, so very yes, "System of a Down" is a wonderful fic. Back in the day, I used to re-read it alot (along with various other fics by Maayan). And once the idea had sparked in my head, it just cried out for John Crichton. Daniel dies and comes back, and Crichton was alive and dies a little inside at each turn of the tale. As you say, Oh John...
