Europeans are kind of cooler than us...U.S. Haha! I'm like Sarah-Jessica Parker with these stupid puns!

I have no facts to back this up right now; nor do I have the time to delve into research to support my argument.   This is largely because I'm not posing an argument; I'm just saying that Europeans, with their accents, the way they say "pins" ( Read more... )

I agree Europeans are cooler than us. I decided it for certain when I was talking to an English girl who was confused by what we call "bleachers." She calls them "stands." And I liked that term better.

But after that point, you lost me. My poor American high school experience didn't include a Shakespeare class. And that argument makes no sense to me anyway. Now I'll go back to reading "Taming of the Shrew." Have a nice day.

this really made me laugh, so thank you. to begin with the end, i heard that about British English speakers (pip-pip!) from Shakespeare's time. the hoity-toity accent really adds something...and yes, we are obsessed with it in our films. isn't it funny how Jesus/Moses/Spock/Sleeping Beauty's parents, etc, are always British? freakin weird...

did you just see across the universe? i hope so. if you didn't, go see it now. it made me feel warm and fuzzy about Europeans, and about rainbows, strawberries, revolutions, black people with fros, the Beatles of course, and Walruses.

I spent a 3 month period of my life pretending to be from South Africa and speaking with an accent. It is just cool.

On the flip side for me, coming from the Northwest, I have no accent. Sometimes people think I have a little one, but it is actually a lack of any. News anchors get sent out here to learn how to speak without one. I am applying on a JET program and they love people from the Northwest because we speak good, clean, pure English.

Thats right, Oregon rocks.
