That "Shorty" does not have to be a short girl.  Someone recently asked me, "Does a 'shorty' have to be short?" and I said no, just a guess. Today it was confirmed.

i've been wondering about "shawty"...i always thought it was referring to a short person male or female, but it turns out it is a girl, nearly all the time. i think i inferred that from numerous I-pod rap songs. amazing how foreign languages (ebonics, French, etc.) can be learned from context.
