A shiny (and mildly radioactive) bauble

My weekend project.

I've built these before.  There's nothing special about the design of this one, but this was the first try with the new jig to hold the frame in shape for soldering.

Shiny project is shiny, and never gets old no matter how many of them I see.

The next step is (or should be, anyway) to integrate one of these babies with that doorknob you're planning to install. Festive!

I love it!

What, erm, exactly is it?

Seven high-brightness UV LEDs, switched in a rotating pattern by a ring oscillator circuit, illuminating an uranium-glass marble. Fluorescence in the uranium glass creates a spinning green glow in the otherwise transparent heart of the device.
