I'm trying to make my way into acquiring jobs in the realm of photography, and it is SO DIFFICULT! So far, I've had a couple potential clients, but then they either bail on me or don't want to pay for my services. How the hell do people end up do weddings and photo shoots and stuff on an almost daily basis? I'm just trying to work it out so I

You'll probably have to do a free wedding so that you can build your portfolio. I have a friend getting married in Michigan in January, I know it's far away, but I'll ask him if he has a photographer yet and talk you up. Hopefully something will come out of it. I'd also try to shadow some professional photogs, make a good impression, and ask that they throw you some extra work when they get swamped. If people think that you view them as sort of a mentor, they're usually all about helping you out.
