My cold started last Thursday but I started to feel so much better yesterday afternoon that I went outside and spent a couple hours taking down Christmas lights/ ( Read more... )

I should've taken your advice and stayed home again this morning. Instead I was a good employee and came into work...and I'm regretting it. pffffttt!

Next time I'll listen to you. ;)

when I worked at B^3 I would read through the little south beach book, that had all the food information. I actually thought it looked very reasonable, and realistic, compared to some of the other stuff I'd seen. Eating healthy is always kool!

<3

Much love for you guys.

Yep, eating healthy is kool! If not always fun. :)

Unfortunately sushi is not on the diet...rice is BAD! But sashimi is. :D

Much love to the Dianasaur...

yay sashimi! I can live with that.

why is rice so bad? I was thinking about this the other day. The cheapest thing to buy at school in the cafeteria is a 99cent rice bowl and all the kids get it but I don't anymore. I actually think I have more energy from not eating that buying those damn white rice bowls.

Holly & I had a "Combo-Deluxe Chef's Choice Sashimi" plate the other night. It was fabulous - and it only cost $45 for the 2 of us. We seem to get feeling more "full" eating sashimi than we do eating sushi.

One of the ideas of the South Beach Diet is the "Glycemic Index" - a measure of how quickly your blood-sugar rises when eating a specific food. Rice and potatos have a fairly high Glycemic Index... So when you eat them your blood-sugar rises quickly, causing your pancreas to dump-out a lot of insulin, which causes your blood-sugar level to drop quickly...leaving you tired and craving more food. Or at least thats the theory. :)

Wow! Way to go with the diet. I tried it but it was vegetarian friendly. Though I did love it because it allowed me the eat cheese!! Cheese is my best friend.

Yes, I never tire of cheese.

Cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese. :) Mmmmm.

I know South Beach has a "vegetarian" option - including a lot of beans and soy burgers - but I think it would be difficult to do.

15 yrs. old! Hahaha! No, she's at least 20...

The only comment from the guy who had been illegaly copying Holly's database was a comment he posted on his product's support forum. He basically said he didn't think you could copyright databases (he's wrong) so yeah, he took them...and if we didn't like it we could try and sue him.

Holly's mother used to teach Weight Watchers classes, and a few years ago she went back to college and became a Registered Dietician. She gave the South Beach Diet her okay, and said that (if you ignore the first 2 weeks of the diet) it is one of the better diets out there.

Holly has been comparing it with the Weight Watchers "Core Plan" and finds a lot of similarities.
