I did a google for "smithsonian institute" and "most dangerous animal" and got wombat.

I do recall there being a photo of a hippo on the cover of the magazine. But until hippos learn to fly and migrate I think they'll pose less of a risk than ducks. :)

I remember hearing that hippos killed more people than snakes and lions combined.

Really? Wow, I know they be cantankerous...
I guess that is why people don't keep them as pets.
And too, if your pet hippo ever accidentally rolled-over in bed on you one night you'd be a goner - unlike, say, if your cat did the same.
