KITTY POLLS: They-Who-Cannot-Be-Named

Jul 16, 2017 13:27

Still working on stupid names (I know, I know)...maybe you can help us. It's not that we can't come up with names, it's that none of us can agree. I try a new one out every day or so ( Read more... )

I think Kitty looks like the ultimate Kliban cat (pronounced Kly-bin). I especially love the pic of him flat out on the floor. Carlyle might be good for your other one (a friend just lost her Carlyle in a storm, that's why I was thinking of him).

Glad to see your itty Bitty Kitty was adopted. I would have named her Itta Bena, which is a town near where I was born.

Aw, Mr. Carlisle was probably just anxious and introverted. You said Kitty was INTJ? right? Perfect. Plus, every time I saw Carlyle, I thought 'Kitty Carlisle', and it made me smile. Carlyle was a funny, sweet 3-year-old, who died in the midst of a weird lightning storm when he was probably struck by a car while running. His Papa found him after the storm, so, yeah, he's gone.

B Kliban is a treasure trove of cartoon magic which includes his documenting of his plethora of cats, mostly tabbies, who were all very pear-shaped, in the best sense of the term. If you or Jack want dark humor, Kliban is your man. Most people see Gary Larsen and think he invented all that absurdity with animals and dinosaurs, but no, Kliban did it first.

Another name I always wanted for a male cat was Hannibal, but this goes way back before SOTL. SSSSSSSSSTTTHHHH!!!

I'm sure he was. Giggly high school age girls definitely made him nervous. I think he was trying really hard not to accidentally do anything that could be misconstrued as inappropriate. Poor guy. I'm so sorry about your friend's cat. I'd be just devastated.

I'll do some more research into Kliban when I get a chance - I was enjoying the cartoons. I did look him up on Wikipedia but it didn't tell me enough so I'll be diving into the rabbit hole here in a bit.

LOL!!! You know what, I might be the only person under the age of 50 who actually does think of Roman general first. That is a great name. Too bad it doesn't fit any of our guys! You need either a really big Maine Coon for that one, or a tee-tiny little wee cat.

Reading through their profiles, I really wish more people could see this! You're funny, girl.

They're all such cute kitties :3

I chose Mako for the first one, and Sammy for the second one.

Okay! So I showed this post to my hubby and he has left suggestions that I put in the boxes. I swear those were his suggestions ( ... )

lol! I love that your husband was invested in this - thank him for me.

I like your ideas! - they make sense; I'm not sure Neville would work for K2 though. He's really outgoing and LOUD - talks a lot. But the rest of the reasoning certainly is true!

What is the Legend of Korra?

We've been calling Kitty 'Kitty' for over a year now and it will probably always be that, even when we give him an 'official' name. It's just too ingrained in all of us I think!

I've noticed I call the cats 'Kitty' and 'K2' when I refer to them to other people, but try out different names when I'm talking to the cats directly.
