How do bees make honey?

Honeybees use nectar to make honey. Nectar is almost 80% water with some complex sugars. In fact, if you have ever pulled a honeysuckle blossom out of its stem, nectar is the clear liquid that drops from the end of the blossom. So, we knew we had bees in the big tree in the front yard... A couple times last summer we saw them swarm in front of our neighbors driveway. But that was nothing! Today we saw the biggest swarm of bees ever! And noticed that in addition to the tree, they have started a couple colonies in a different tree... There are just a whole lot of bees around here... And what's the logical thing to do? Of course, beekeeping...

So many plans...

I can't wait for some Merva Farms honeycomb to spread on my wheat toast.
