I've taken up Yoga!

Last week I signed up for a 15-day trial for doing yoga at a place called YogaSource in Palo Alto. So far I have mostly attended the Bikram classes (yoga done in a room heated to 95 degrees-loooooooooots of sweating involved!) and I have really been enjoying myself although after day 4 I was so sore I had to skip the next day. Now that I have ( Read more... )

yeah regular classes would be pricey-luckily the trial was only $15 for 15 days unlimited classes. Maybe you could join yogasource for the 15 day trial and then browse for cheaper alternatives afterward :-)

yeah luckily there are a lot of yoga places near me so it shouldn't be too hard to find a couple more to join for trial-periods initially... too bad yogasource is probably spoiling me though-they do the whole nice environment with lighting and music, they have a good class schedule with different teachers (so it's easy to find a different class if you don't like one of the instructor's style), and at the end of most classes the instructors come around and give a brief neck massage with optional lavender oil (as well as aiding during some stretches with a short massage).

One of my friends is doing that. She really likes it so far. Lol, my first attempt at yoga was pilates, and that was such a mistake.

yeah I would say yoga is not for everyone... I mean anyone can do it but not everyone would want to-maybe I will look into pilates next but doesn't that focus on stomach muscles? I just remember my roommate soph year had a pilates tape she would sometimes do in our room at lunch time ad she even had the big ball-it looked like a silly workout!

Pilates is like a combination of yoga and aerobics. It's not a good introduction to yoga. Lol, I have a mat, but it's just sitting in the corner these days. I guess I never graduated to the big ball.

haha maybe that's why you didn't like pilates-you were missing out on the big ball stretches :-p
