The day before the weeds take over...

I planted these bleeding hearts with the help of my friend Esther the first spring we were in this house. They never fail me and it's been twenty years now.  The blue plants  in the background are Virginia bluebells which have multiplied on their own. I'm all about benign neglect in the garden, that's why I took the pic before the weeds move in ( Read more... )

I guess they're old fashioned nowadays, but I love the way they look.

That's a charming nook. It looks most cat or bird friendly.

We have a brush pile behind some bushes off to the left side as a habitat for the birds and chipmunks. The cats are very fond of it too...

Oh, I haven't seen bleeding hearts in forever! They were my Mum's favorite flower.

They're old fashioned but they're beautiful. We planted them as an experiment, but they're totally trouble free.

My dad made sure Mum always had some in her garden, at least until we moved into the 'city' and we no longer had a front yard or anywhere to plant stuff.

very beautifull. I love Bleeding Hearts. I still have to plant a couple in the garden here, I've always had bleeding hearts in the garden, where ever I've lived :-)

I love them too. I've been meaning to plant some of the smaller white ones too, but haven't gotten around to it.

Absolutely gorgeous.

A nice backyard is soul healing. The rental house I'm in has this fantastic backyard. The roses are currently out in force and it's incredibly beautiful. I wish I could spend more time there and less time at work (needless to say) or on the road.

It is! Ours (as you can see) is more or less a wild garden, but the paths keep it somewhat in check. We spend as much time as we can on the patio in good weather, and always wonder why more people aren't out in their yards.
