Hail. We just had chunks of hail coming down. That's a first for July.
You can really hear it on the roof in a one story house. Can't hear much else though :D :D

Cats dove into their safe spaces, refuse to say when they're coming out...

It would be bouncing off the rubber roof. No wonder the cats were worried.

It may well have bounced! Though it was warm, about 28C, and the ice melted as soon as it hit the ground.

The roof has a mild A shape, the lowest part is where the bedrooms are, so that's always the loudest part of the house when it rains. The sound of rain is actually soothing at night. The hail however was not soothing at all, just loud. In the fall, the acorns hit the roof, and now and then one of the turkeys lands up there and hops around. I've learned to identify the various sounds :)
